ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE OF NEW BEDFORD, INC., D/B/A HUMANE SOCIETY & SHELTER-SOUTHCOAST, PROVIDES SERVICES TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF HOMELESS PETS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES QUARANTINE SERVICES TO OTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS BRINGING ANIMALS INTO MASSACHUSETTS FROM OTHER STATES, RESCUES STRAY ANIMALS, PROVIDES THEM VETERINARY CARE AND OFFERS THEM FOR ADOPTION TO APPROPRIATE HOMES. THE PETS ARE ALL SPAYED/NEUTERED PRIOR TO ADOPTION TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF UNWANTED ANIMALS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OFFERS AFFORDABLE RABIES CLINICS, AND BOARDING SERVICES TO CURRENT PET OWNERS TO HELP PREVENT ABANDONMENT DUE TO THE COST OF PET CARE.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES QUARANTINE SERVICES FOR PETS BEING ADOPTED LOCALLY FROM SHELTERS IN THE SOUTHERN UNITED STATES. THE PETS ARE QUARANTINED AND RECEIVE A HEALTH CERTIFICATE PRIOR TO ENTERING THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED THESE SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 1,250 ANIMALS DURING THE YEAR ENDED MARCH 31, 2023.
