Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
ANIMAL SHELTER AND PET ADOPTION CENTER - IN 2022, 451 DOGS AND CATS WERE ADOPTED FROM OUR SHELTER. WE SUCCESSFULLY SAW 13 DOGS THROUGH AN UNANTICIPATED MEDICAL CRISIS, WHICH CLOSED OUR CANINE ADOPTION WING DOWN FOR SIX MONTHS DURING THE YEAR (INCREASING LENGTH OF STAYS AND DECREASING ADOPTIONS DURING THIS TIME). ALL DOGS AFFECTED BY THIS CRISIS SURVIVED AND THRIVED AND HAVE SINCE BEEN ADOPTED INTO LOVING HOMES. ** NCAL'S ADOPTION TRANSPORT PROGRAM BRINGS ADOPTABLE DOGS AT RISK OF EUTHANSIA FROM HIGH VOLUME SHELTERS IN THE SOUTH TO OUR CENTER WHEN SPACE IS AVAILABLE. WE ENSURE THEIR READINESS FOR ADOPTION AND PROVIDE THEM WITH A SECOND CHANCE. THE NETWORK OF PARTNERS WE WORK WITH ENSURES THAT THESE PETS ARE EVALUATED, VETTED, AND MEET STRICT TRANSPORT PROTOCOLS. ** NORTH COUNTRY ANIMAL LEAGUE CONTINUES TO PARTNER WITH LOCAL FOOD BANKS AND MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAMS THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND NCAL MEALS PROGRAM TO SUPPLY PET FOOD AND SUPPORT TO THEIR CLIENTS. BY MAKING PET FOOD MORE ACCESSIBLE, AND PROVIDING NEEDED SUPPORT TO OWNED PETS IN OUR COMMUNITY, WE HOPE TO KEEP MORE PETS IN THE HOMES WHERE THEY ARE LOVED AND OUT OF THE SHELTER DUE TO FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. ** NCAL PROVIDES HUMANE EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS THAT AIM TO EDUCATE OUR COMMUNITY ABOUT RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP, AND PROVIDE SERVICES TO KEEP ANIMALS IN THE HOMES AND OUT OF THE SHELTER. WE ENSURE THAT THESE PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WHEN IT IS REQUESTED. IN 2022. NORTH COUNTRY ANIMAL LEAGUE RAN 14 HUMANE EDUCATION SUMMER CAMPS AND SERVED 194 CHILDREN THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS THAT HELP CHILDREN LEARN COMPASSION AND RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS ANIMALS.
EGUINE CENTER - NCAL'S EQUINE CENTER IS HOME TO 21 HORSES AND OFFERS BOARDING SERVICES AND YEAR-ROUND EQUINE-RELATED HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES. IN 2022, THE EQUINE CENTER SERVED 162 CHILDREN AND ADULTS IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH HORSEMANSHIP PROGRAMS INCLUDING SADDLE CLUB, GROUP LESSONS AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS.
