THE INTERNSHIP AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS TEACH REGENERATIVE FARMING, CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY, AND ITALIAN FOOD TRADITIONS, HISTORY AND CULTURE THROUGH A MIX OF HANDS-ON WORK AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING. 24 INTERNS PARTICIPATED IN THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN 2023. OUR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS HOSTED 8 BUTCHER APPRENTICES AND 2 CULINARY APPRENTICES.
RETAIL SALES OF ITEMS FROM THE FARM AND RELATED TO OUR WORK AND BRAND BEGAN IN 2023.
THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM PROVIDES 1-3 WEEK PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS FOCUSED ON TOPICS RELATED TO ITALIAN CULTURE AND HISTORY, FOOD AND AGRICULTURE, SUSTAINABILITY, FINE ARTS AND MUSIC, AND WELLNESS. APPROXIMATELY 350 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN 2023.
NEW IN 2023, THE FARM GRANT PROGRAM SUPPORTS INNOVATIVE AGRICULTURAL AND CONSERVATION PROJECTS ON THE SPANNOCCHIA PROPERTY, REFLECTING OUR COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION AND THE ENVIRONMENT. THE BOARD CONSIDERS PROJECT PROPOSALS THAT SHOWCASE RESPONSIBLE LAND AND WATER USE, DEMONSTRATE TRAILBLAZING PERMACULTURE PRACTICES, AND INSPIRE AND EDUCATE VISITORS ABOUT CLIMATE-CONSCIOUS CHOICES. IN 2023, WE HELPED FUND THE FULL TRANSITION TO NO-TILL REGENERATIVE PRACTICES IN THE PROPERTY'S VEGETABLE GARDENS.
