Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
FRIENDS OF SPANNOCCHIA CONNECTS PEOPLE TO AN AUTHENTIC TUSCAN LANDSCAPE, LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS, AND SUSTAINABLE LIVING PRACTICES TO TRANSFORM THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. THROUGH HANDS ON EXPERIENCES ON AN ANCIENT ORGANIC FARM, WE ENCOURAGE HEALTHY SOLUTIONS FOR OUR PLANET.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM APPLIES LESSONS OF ECOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY IN TUSCANY TO FOSTER AWARENESS, UNDERSTANDING, AND PRACTICE OF SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE USE IN RURAL AREAS WORLDWIDE. REGRETTABLY, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FORCED US TO SUSPEND THIS PROGRAM FOR 2021, THOUGH WE ARE HAPPY TO BE RESUMING THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN 2022, WHILE FOLLOWING THE LATEST ITALIAN AND US PANDEMIC GUIDELINES.
THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM PROVIDES 1- TO 2-WEEK PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS FOCUSED ON TOPICS RELATED TO ITALIAN CULTURE AND HISTORY, INCLUDING PAINTING, SUSTAINABILITY, AND COOKING. REGRETTABLY, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FORCED US TO SUSPEND MOST OF THESE PROGRAMS FOR 2021; WE HAD JUST A FEW GROUPS ABLE TO STAY AND LEARN ON THE FARM IN SEPT-OCT 2021. WE ARE EAGER TO RESUME A MORE ROBUST PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE IN 2022, WHILE FOLLOWING THE LATEST ITALIAN AND US PANDEMIC GUIDELINES.
