WE WERE FOUNDED OVER 110 YEARS AGO AND HAVE SERVED OUR MEMBERS AND THE CITIZENS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE ALL THE YEARS OF OUR EXISTENCE. WE ARE AFFILIATED WITH THE AMERICAN OPTOMETRIC ASSOCIATION. THE NHOA IS A MEMBERSHIP-GOVERNED ORGANIZATION WHICH OPERATES UNDER A SET OF BYLAWS APPROVED BY THE MEMBERS. A BOARD OF DIRECTORS LEADS THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN OUR QUARTERLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS. WE RETAIN THE SERVICES OF AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO CONDUCT THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION, AND SINCE OPTOMETRY IS (AND ALWAYS WILL BE) A PROFESSION CONTROLLED BY THE LEGISLATURE AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE AGENCIES, WE RETAIN A GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS FIRM TO GUIDE US THROUGH OUR INVOLVEMENT WITH THESE FUNCTIONS. INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NHOA IN THE PROVISION OF CE IS A VERY HIGH PRIORITY. IT SERVES NOT ONLY TO PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL SUPPORT, BUT ALSO TO IMPROVE THE EDUCATIONAL QUALITY OF THE CE EXPERIENCE. TO THIS END, EVERY EFFORT IS MADE TO OBTAIN INDUSTRY PARTICIPATION FOR ALL OUR CE PROGRAMS. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, FINANCIAL SUPPORT, PARTICIPATION AS EXHIBITOR, AND ADVISING THOSE WHO ARE PLANNING THE MEETING ON WAYS TO IMPROVE THE PROGRAM.
NHOA SEEKS TO FOSTER PUBLIC AWARENESS OF OPTOMETRY AS A PRIMARY HEALTH-CARE PROFESSION, AND TO ACT AS AN ADVOCATE FOR OPTOMETRIC VISION CARE IN THE POLITICAL AND REGULATORY PROCESSES.
