SPRINGFEST COMMUNITY CELEBRATION - THE ROTARY CLUB HELD A GNOME-THEMED FESTIVAL AT MILL CREEK PARK IN SOUTH PORTLAND THAT WAS FREE TO THE PUBLIC WITH GAMES, CRAFTS, MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT AND REFRESHMENTS. A STREET PARTY WITH MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT, GAMES AND CRAFTS (ALSO FREE TO THE PUBLIC) WAS HELD ON THE EVENING BEFORE THE FESTIVAL.
THE CLUB MADE DONATIONS TO A WIDE VARIETY OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS THE ROTARY FOUNDATION. THESE DONATIONS SUPPORTED VULNERABLE STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY, HOMELESS VETERANS, MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVES, STABLE HOUSING AND INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS. WE ALSO MAINTAINED BUG LIGHT, A SMALL LIGHTHOUSE IN SOUTH PORTLAND.
HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS. TEN SCHOLARSHIPS @ $1,000 EACH WERE AWARDED TO SENIORS GRADUATING FROM CAPE ELIZABETH HIGH SCHOOL AND SOUTH PORTLAND HIGH SCHOOL.
FOOD INSECURITY - IN ADDITION TO CLUB MEMBERS VOLUNTEERING AT THE LOCAL FOOD CUPBOARD, THE CLUB MADE DONATIONS TOTALING $11,500 TO THE SOUTH PORTLAND FOOD CUPBOARD, JUDY'S PANTRY AND THE SOUTH PORTLAND BOYS & GIRLS CLUB.
