THE MISSION OF SCUBANAUTS INTERNATIONAL (SNI) IS TO EDUCATE TEENS (SCUBANAUTS) IN THE MARINE SCIENCES, ENABLING THEM TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND EMPOWERING THEM TO BECOME TOMORROWS LEADERS.

MISSIONS: MULTIPLE TRIPS TO MOTE MARINE LABORATORY SUMMERLAND KEY, FLORIDA; CORAL CONSERVATION, CORAL DISEASE RESEARCH, SHARK CONSERVATION, TURTLE CONSERVATION, DEBRIS REMOVAL. CATALINA ISLAND, CA; FISH COUNTS, BENTHIC SURVEYS, RESEARCH WITH AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC AND USC. ST. CROIX; COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL CONSERVATION GROUP TO DEVELOP CORAL NURSERY, BENTHIC SURVEYS. PANAMA CITY, FL; FISH AND BENTHIC SURVEYS. DATA CONTRIBUTED TO REEF DATA BASE. 65 YOUTH PARTICIPANTS, 28 ADULT PARTICIPANTS.


OTHER PROGRAMS: TRAINING INCLUDES DIVE SKILLS REVIEW, DIVERS FIRST AID ( CPR/1ST AID/AED), AND ACCIDENT SCENE MANAGEMENT. ALL MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE ANNUALLY.


EDUCATION/OUTREACH: CAPITAL HILL OCEANS WEEK (CHOW), MULTIPLE TRADE SHOWS AND OUTREACH EVENTS, DEBRIS REMOVAL EVENTS. MULTIPLE DAYS, 150 PARTICIPANTS.


COMMUNITY: LOCAL CONSERVATION ACTIVITIES (BEACH CLEANUP, SEA GRASS MONITORING, FISH COUNTS, AND INVASIVE SPECIES ERADICATION, OUTREACH EVENTS). MULTIPLE DAYS, 150 PARTICIPANTS.
