HOMES OF HOPE, INC IS INVOLVED IN THE PREVENTION AND ELIMINATION OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, SEXUAL ABUSE, AND SEX TRAFFICKING BY CREATING A CULTURE OF FREEDOM IN THE FIJI ISLANDS AND ACROSS THE SOUTH PACIFIC.

HOMES OF HOPE WORKS IN THE FIJI ISLANDS TO HELP BUILD A SAFE CULTURE FREE FROM SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFFICKING. WE HAVE THREE MAJOR EFFORTS: TRAINING YOUNG GIRLS; WITHDRAWING VULNERABLE AND VICTIMS OF SEXUAL TRAUMA TO A RESIDENTIAL CAMPUS; AND HELPING COMMUNITIES BUILD PLANS TO PREVENT SEXUAL ABUSE. OUR VISION IS TO CREATE A CULTURE OF FREEDOM FOR GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN. HOMES OF HOPE, INC, IN THE UNITED STATES, PARTIALLY FUNDS HOMES OF HOPE FIJI'S WORK DESCRIBED BELOW.OUR TRAINING AND SOCIAL ENTERPRISE TEAM EMPOWERS GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMAN IN FOUR LABORATORIES. LAST YEAR DURING THE COVID LOCK DOWNS, WE CONTINUED OUR PROGRAMS TRAINING 81 GIRLS IN INTENSIVE GARDENING, BAKING, COOKING, AND FOOD PROCESSING. THREE GIRLS ADVANCED THEIR TRAINING AS INTERNS IN A 12-MONTH INTENSIVE PROGRAM. THE GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN IN THE TRAINING PROGRAM WERE ABLE TO EARN ALLOWANCES TO BUILD THEIR OWN SAVINGS ACCOUNTS. THE COSTS FOR TRAINING AND ALLOWANCES ARE 30 PERCENT OF HOH FIJI EXPENSES. DURING COVID LOCK DOWN, WE CONTINUED TO RECEIVE WITHDRAWALS TO LIVE ON CAMPUS; YET, AT A LOWER CENSUS. ADDITIONALLY, WE ALSO WERE ABLE TO MAKE REFERRALS TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. THE OPERATING COSTS FOR RESIDENTIAL CARE, APPROXIMATELY 34% OF THE TOTAL, PROVIDED GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN FOOD AND SHELTER, TRAUMA INFORMED CARE, A VARIETY OF THERAPY SESSIONS, AS WELL AS LEGAL AND MEDICAL SUPPORT.OUR COMMUNITY TEAM WAS ACTIVE IN MANY WAYS DESPITE LOCK DOWN RESTRICTIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY AND INDEPENDENTLY IN VILLAGES. USING TELECONFERENCING, HOMES OF HOPE COMMUNICATED AND TRAINED OVER 34 DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES AND THEIR VILLAGE LEADERS. ADDITIONALLY, THE COMMUNITY TEAM BROUGHT TOGETHER NINETEEN (19) SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH ZOOM INTERACTIONS AND FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING. THE TRAINING BUILT A COHESIVE ALLIANCE WHO ARE TRAINED AND EQUIPPED TO BRING AWARENESS AND ACTION IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE ISLANDS IN FIJI. ADDITIONALLY, TWENTY-FOUR (24) TOOLKITS WERE WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED TO BE USED IN COMMUNITIES AND AT THE RESIDENTIAL CAMPUS SUCH AS SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFFICKING AWARENESS (SETA) MODULES. THE EXPENDITURE TO WORK IN COMMUNITIES, FOLLOWING UP ON REFERRALS, DOING REINTEGRATION WORK, AND BUILDING THE CSO TASK FORCE WAS 43% OF HOMES OF HOPE FIJI FUNDS.
