GEAR UP PROGRAM: THE ORGANIZATION HAS CONTRACTED AS A PASS THROUGH ENTITY WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FARMINGTON TO ADMINISTER THE GAINING EARLY AWARENESS AND READINESS FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS (GEAR UP) PROGRAM. GEAR UP PROVIDES SUPPORT AND MAINTAINS A COMMITMENT TO ELIGIBLE LOW-INCOME STUDENTS, INCLUDING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES, HELPS STUDENTS OBTAIN A SECONDARY SCHOOL DIPLOMA (OR ITS EQUIVALENT) AND PREPARES STUDENTS FOR, AND TO SUCCEED IN, POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION. ALL GEAR UP PROJECTS PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES INCLUDING MENTORING, TUTORING, ACADEMIC AND CAREER COUNSELING, SERVICES TO INCREASE PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT, AND OTHER COLLEGE PREPARATION ACTIVITIES LIKE EXPOSURE TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM: THE ORGANIZATION HAS CONTRACTED WITH THE STATE OF MAINE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES TO PROVIDE COORDINATION, ADMINISTRATION AND IMPLEMENTATION FOR THE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM (WDS). THE SYSTEM PROVIDES TRAINING THAT IS ACCESSIBLE STATEWIDE, COST-EFFICIENT AND TIMELY. TRAINING IS REFLECTIVE OF BEST PRACTICES AND MAKES OPTIMAL USE OF TECHNOLOGY. THE SYSTEM IS COMPREHENSIVE SO THAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR BASIC AND ADVANCED EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ARE AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY REHABILITATION PROVIDERS AND PROFESSIONALS PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
