TO RAISE EARLY ASPIRATIONS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION AND TO EMPOWER YOUNG STUDENTS IN RURAL MAINE COMMUNITIES TO BUILD A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES BY PROVIDING EARLY INFORMATION AND INSPIRATION THROUGH WORKSHOPS, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COLLEGE STUDENTS AND THE MITCHELL INSTITUTE, MAINE COLLEGE CIRCLE TALKED WITH APPROXIMATELY 2,350 RURAL ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS IN MAINE (THROUGH 84 FUTURE OF MAINE ASPIRATIONS WORKSHOPS) ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES OF HIGHER EDUCATION. WE CELEBRATED AND AWARDED 266 FUTURE OF MAINE COLLEGE ASPIRATIONS SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS IN 35 MAINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. WE SUPPORTED ONLINE "CONNECTIONS" BETWEEN RURAL MAINE STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS. WE SUPPORTED THE "MAINE WORD ABOUT COLLEGE" NEWSLETTER WRITTEN BY COLLEGE STUDENTS FOR YOUNG RURAL MAINE STUDENTS. AND, WE PROVIDED OTHER CREATIVE PROGRAMS TO INSPIRE AND DEVELOP EARLY ASPIRATIONS IN RURAL MAINE. WE ARE CONVINCED THAT DEVELOPING EARLY ASPIRATIONS AND PROMOTING THE VALUE OF EDUCATION AND EFFORT ARE THE KEYS TO BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE IN RURAL MAINE COMMUNITIES.
