PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE SUMMER RESIDENTS AND THE TOWN LEADERSHIP ON ISSUES THAT CONCERN THE CURRENT AND FUTURE WELL BEING OF THE TOWN OF MOUNT DESERT, ME. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE ORGANIZATION SEEKS TO REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE SUMMER RESIDENTS AND TO KEEP THEM INFORMED OF, AND INVOLVED IN, THE TOWN PLANNING PROCESS ON CURRENT AND FUTURE ISSUES AND TO BE A CONSTRUCTIVE VOICE OF THE SUMMER RESIDENTS WITH THE TOWN GOVERNMENT, WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE TOWN LEADERS TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE UNIQUE CHARACTER, CULTURE, ENVIRONMENT, AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE TOWN.

IN THE LATE SPRING/EARLY SUMMER 2020 THE SRA SOLICITED MONEY FROM ITS MEMBERS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL MERCHANTS IN THE SIX VILLAGES OF THE TOWN OF MOUNT DESERT. 100% OF THE MONEY (NET OF EXPENSES) WAS DISTRIBUTED TO MERCHANTS WHO FILLED OUT AN APPLICATION IDENTIFYING THEIR NEED, AND COMMITTING TO REMAIN OPEN THROUGH THE SUMMER TO SERVICE CUSTOMERS. THE MONIES WERE OUTRIGHT GIFTS, AND WERE ALLOCATED PROPORTIONATELY ACCORDING TO SALES SIZE AND NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES.
