Part 3
WE COMPLETED REPAIRS/MAINTENANCE OF ORIGINAL ROOF CORNICES AND WOODEN PENTS ON THE FRONT GABLE OF THE MEETING HOUSE. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORIGINAL GABLE WINDOW AT THE REAR OF THE BUILDING WAS REPAIRED, AND A NEW REPLICA SASH WAS BUILT AND INSTALLED. RESTORATION OF THE 1930 E. HOWARD & CO. CLOCKWORKS WAS COMPLETED, AND THREE REPLICA CLOCK FACES WERE CONSTRUCTED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINALS. THESE ITEMS ARE NOW IN STORAGE PENDING REPAIRS TO THE CLOCK TOWER. A DESIGN AND ENGINEERING CERTIFICATION FOR A REPLICA 30-FOOT TALL SPIRE WAS DONE. THE REPLICA SPIRE IS DESIGNED TO BE A HISTORICALLY ACCURATE REPRODUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL SPIRE, WHICH WAS DESTROYED BY A WINTER GALE IN 1916. THE TOWN OF READFIELD SHOWED CONTINUED SUPPORT OF OUR ACTIVITIES WITH A 5,000 DONATION TOWARDS MEETING HOUSE RESTORATION AND A 10,000 NO-INTEREST LOAN FOR REHABILITATION OF THE VESTRY BUILDING. FULLY IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MAINE CDC'S COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, THE ORGANIZATON CONDUCTED A SUCCESSFUL SERIES OF COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. VESTRY REHABILITATION CONTINUED THROUGH THE YEAR, FOCUSED ON CRAWL-SPACE CLEANUP, NEW PLUMBING, NEW SIDING AND IMPROVEMENTS IN EXTERIOR DRAINAGE. ALL LABOR FOR THIS WORK IS BEING DONATED BY LOCAL CONTRACTORS. SPEARHEADED BY SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT PERSONAL DONATIONS, RUMH SET A RECORD FOR DONATIONS IN 2021.
