STATEWIDE & LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZING - WORKED TO ADVANCE GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGNS TO: ADVANCE RACIAL JUSTICE AND IMMIGRANT RIGHTS; WORK TOWARDS FAIR TAXES; EXPAND HEALTHCARE AND POLICIES THAT ALLOW MAINE SENIORS TO AGE WITH DIGNITY IN THEIR HOMES; ADDRESS THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC; BUILD SUPPORT FOR CLIMATE AND ENERGY REFORM AND DEMONSTRATE THE BROAD PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR PROTECTION OF PROGRAMS LIKE SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, AND THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT, INCREASE VACCINE AWARENESS, AMONG OTHERS. WORKED TO PROVIDE MUTUAL AID ADVOCATE FOR RELIEF DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC. WE ARE KNOWN FOR OUR ABILITY TO DO GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING AND EDUCATION THAT REACHES MORE THAN 100,000 MAINERS EACH YEAR WITH DIRECT PERSONAL CONTACT AND QUALITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORK.
DOOR CANVASS - PUBLIC OUTREACH AND EDUCATION: CANVASS STAFF CONTACTS HOUSEHOLDS IN MAINE BY VISITING HOMES IN THE PORTLAND, BANGOR, AND LEWISTON AREAS TO DISTRIBUTE ISSUE-ORIENTED INFORMATION, RECRUIT MEMBERS, AND SOLICIT CONTRIBUTIONS. DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC MUCH OF THIS OUTREACH WAS DONE VIA PHONE, TEXT, SOCIAL MEDIA AND VIDEO.
PROGRESSIVE COALITION SERVICES: AS PART OF ITS OVERALL ORGANIZING AND EDUCATIONAL MISSION, MPA OFFERS FISCAL SPONSORSHIP SERVICE FOR APPROPRIATE PARTNERS AND COALITIONS WITH SHARED MISSIONS AND GOALS. IN 2021 THIS INCLUDED MAINE VOTES, A STATE-BASED COLLABORATIVE CAMPAIGN AND POLITICAL ACTIVITY TABLE BUILT TO ESTABLISH COLLECTIVE ACTION AROUND A COMMON AGENDA--BY IMPROVING LONG-TERM COORDINATION VIA DATA, TARGETING, AND RELATED ACTIVITY.
