THE BAY SCHOOL IS A PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 8TH GRADE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL THAT HAS WORKED TO INTEGRATE ADADEMICS AND THE ARTS IN THE WALDORF TRADITION SINCE 1980. IT IS ACCREDITED BY THE NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES AND THE ASSOCIATION OF WALDORF SCHOOLS OF NORTH AMERICA. LOCATED ON A BEAUTIFUL 76- ACRE CAMPUS, THE SCHOOL ENCOMPASSES WOODS, TRAILS, ATHLETIC FIELDS, MEADOWS, A CHICKEN COOP, GREENHOUSES, FORGE, AND A PLAYGROUND.
EMLEN HALL, NAMED IN HONOR OF THE BAY SCHOOL'S FOUNDER JAN EMLEN, SERVES AS A COMMONS BUILDING, PERFORMANCE SPACE, AND ARTS FACILITY FOR NONPROFITS, ARTIST, LECTURERS, MOVEMENT INSTRUCTORS, AND SCHOOLS FROM THE GREATER BLUE HILL COMMUNITY.
