THROUGH DIRECT AND INDIRECT LEGISLATION ADVOCACY, THE MAINE WOMEN'S LOBBY ADVOCATES FOR GENDER-RESPONSIVE AND GENDER-EQUITABLE PUBLIC POLICIES, WITH A FOCUS ON THOSE MOST AFFECTED BY MISOGYNY, SEXISM, AND OTHER FORMS OF OPPRESSION. OUR POLICY FOCUS AREAS ARE FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE, FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION, ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE, INCLUDING REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE, ECONOMIC JUSTICE, AND WE ALSO ADVOCATE FOR SYSTEMS AND REPRESENTATION WHICH ENSURE EQUITY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL MAINERS. IN 2022, WE ACHIEVED SEVERAL LEGISLATIVE SUCCESSES, INCLUDING EXPANDING ACCESS TO SERVICES THROUGH PRIVATE INSURANCE AFTER BIRTH INJURIES OCCUR; INCREASED WAGES AND COMPENSATION TO CREATE MORE STABILITY IN CHILDCARE SYSTEMS, SUPPORT FOR THE MAINE COMMISSION ON PAID FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE, AND EXPANDED WORKER'S RIGHTS PROTECTIONS RELATED TO NONDISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS.
