WHERE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ARE GIVEN EACH YEAR TO YOUTH AND ADULTS WHO HAVE SHOWN A STRONG INTEREST AND ABILITY IN THE ARTS AND WHO MAY, BECAUSE OF FINANCIAL RESTRICTIONS, BE UNABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OTHERWISE AVAILABLE TO THEM. GRANTS HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO COMMUNITY EVENTS LIKE THE CARNATION FARMER'S MARKET AND DUVALL FARMER'S MARKET WHERE MUSIC AND ARTISTIC ELEMENTS ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THESE EVENTS. DFA PRODUCES THE SANDBLAST ARTS FESTIVAL HELD ANNUALLY IN JULY ON THE BANKS OF THE SNOQUALMIE RIVER. THIS TWO DAY EVENT IS NOW IN ITS 20TH YEAR. IT FEATURES LOCAL MUSICIANS, ART BOOTHS (INCLUDING LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS) AND COMMUNITY SAND SCULPTURE. IT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC AND ATTRACTS APPROXIMATELY 2,500 PEOPLE EACH YEAR. DFA MANAGES SEVERAL LOCAL, YEAR-ROUND ART EXHIBITIONS IN DOWNTO
