TO ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE AN INTEREST IN THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF THE EASTERN SHORE AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA; TO CARRY ON RESEARCH AND WORK OF A HISTORICAL CHARACTER; TO IDENTIFY AND PRESERVE HISTORIC BUILDINGS, LANDMARKS, AND OTHER OBJECTS AND DOCUMENTS OF HISTORICAL VALUE; TO PROMOTE HISTORICAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS THAT WILL AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EASTERN SHORE OF VIRGINIA; AND TO PERFORM SUCH OTHER ACTS AS CONSISTENT WITH THE GENERAL PURPOSES OF A HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

The goal of this organization is to provide temporary shelter for women who have experienced domestic violence and for their children.

THE CORPORATION IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR NON-PROFIT PURPOSES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO (I) THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC REGARDING REVITALIZATION TECHNIQUES, CONSERVATION OF, AND THE BENEFITS, IN GENERAL, OF DOWNTOWN ONANCOCK, VIRGINIA; (II) THE AVAILABILITY OF AND EXPOSURE TO THE ARTS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OF DOWNTOWN ONANCOCK, VIRGINIA; AND (III) THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND BEAUTIFICATION OF DOWNTOWN ONANCOCK, VIRGINIA. THE CORPORATION SHALL HAVE ALL THE POWERS GRANTED UNDER VA. CODE ANN. 13.1-826, AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME, AND ANY OTHER APPLICABLE STATUTE.

MISSION:

EASTERN SHORE SCHOLASTIC CHESS, INC. (ESSC) IS A 501(C)(3) WITH THE MISSION TO HELP PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND OTHER YOUTH SERVING ORGANIZATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM ESTABLISH FEDERAL, LOCAL AND COMMUNITY SUPPORTED CHESS CLUBS. CURRENT PROJECTS ARE WITH THE ACCOMACK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ON THE EASTERN SHORE OF VIRGINIA AND WELL AS LOCAL SURROUNDING YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. THE ACPS AND LOCAL YOUTH SERVING ORGANIZATIONS HAVE RECOGNIZED THE ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL BENEFITS OF CHESS TO THE CHILD, AND THE CONSISTENCY OF THE LIFE-SKILLS LEARNED IN CHESS WITH BOTH STEM AND VIRGINIA EMPLOYMENT READINESS SKILLS EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES. IN AREAS SUCH AS WITHIN THE ACPS, DISTANT FROM OTHER CHESS PROGRAMS, BOTH LOCAL INTERSCHOLASTIC COMPETITIONS AND ON-LINE COMPETITIONS WITH SCHOOLS AND INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD BECOME POSSIBLE FOR THE FIRST TIME.

The goal of this organization is to support and fund-raise for single institutions, multihospital health care systems, and similar diversified health systems comprised of closely-affiliated organizations within the Health Care major group area.
