TO ADVANCE THE GENERAL WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH PROGRAMS PROVIDING HOUSING AND CHILDCARE ASSISTANCE AS WELL AS POVERTY ELIMINATION STRATEGIES TO DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS.

TO PROVIDE FIRE PREVENTION, FIRE-FIGHTING SERVICES, AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE FOR THE WEST MOUNT FIRE DISTRICT OF NASH COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY SUPPORT IS RECEIVED THROUGH FIRE TAX PROCEEDS FROM NASH COUNTY AND THE MAJORITY OF ITS FIREMEN ARE VOLUNTEERS.

BULLOCK/MCLEOD HOUSING, INC., A NORTH CAROLINA NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION, WAS ORGANIZED TO CONSTRUCT, OWN AND OPERATE A 48-UNIT APARTMENT COMMUNITY IN ROCKY MOUNT, NORTH CAROLINA, KNOWN AS BULLOCK MCLEOD APARTMENTS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 202 OF THE NATIONAL HOUSING ACT, AS AMENDED. THE CORPORATION HAS ENTERED INTO THE STANDARD FHA REGULATORY AGREEMENTS GOVERNING THE OPERATION OF THE COMMUNITY WITH THE FEDERAL HOUSING ADMINISTRATION SECTION OF HUD. THE CORPORATION LEASES APARTMENT UNITS TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES OR PERSONS IN THE NORMAL COURSE OF BUSINESS.

THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH WORKING ACROSS THE FOUR BUILDING BLOCKS OF EARLY EDUCATION AND LITERACY: 1) HEALTH- HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT ARE ON TRACK BEGINNING BEFORE BIRTH, 2) FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES- FAMILIES ARE ENGAGED AND SUPPORTED BY COORDINATED COMMUNITIES, 3) EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION- EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION ENVIRONMENTS ARE HIGH QUALITY AND 4) READY SCHOOLS- TEACHING AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR K-3 STUDENTS ARE EFFECTIVE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, 365 DAYS A YEAR.
