EMPOWER THE NORTH END RESIDENTS OF WICHITA, KS, ESPECIALLY THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY, BY PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL, WORKFORCE-READINESS AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES

MISSION:

THE MISSION OF THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION IS TO EMPOWER AND ASSIST YOUTH, FAMILIES AND ADULTS IN OUR COMMUNITY TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS THROUGH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND SERVICE.

MISSION:

ON BEHALF OF THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE-WICHITA, WCGME ADMINISTERS THE GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR RESIDENT PHYSICIANS IN THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS. WCGME'S INVOLVEMENT IN GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION IN WICHITA IS THE RESULT OF AN EFFORT TO OPERATE THAT USED TO BE THREE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS AS ONE. WCGME IS THE LIAISON BETWEEN THE HOSPITAL CLINICAL TEACHING SITES AND THE MEDICAL SCHOOL ACADEMICIANS (FACULTY). WCGME IS, HOWEVER, MORE THAN A LIAISON. IT COORDINATES THE RECRUITMENT OF RESIDENTS, ASSISTS IN ACCREDITATION ACTIVITIES OF ALL THE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS AND APPROVES THE PROGRAM DIRECTORS WHO ARE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VARIOUS PROGRAMS. ULTIMATELY THE BENEFIT TO THE CITY OF WICHITA AND THE STATE OF KANSAS IS THE PROVISION OF WELL-EDUCATED PHYSICIANS. PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN RESIDENTS MAKE UP OVER FIFTY PERCENT OF THE RESIDENTS CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING IN THE GME PROGRAM. THESE PHYSICIANS WILL BECOME A VITAL PART OF THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY UPON COMPLETION

PROVIDE LOW-INCOME HOUSING AND COUNSELING TO DISABLED, LOW-INCOME AND HOMELESS PERSONS AND TO RE-ENTRY INMATES.

TO ESTABLISH A RESOURCE CENTER TO BECOME THE HOME BASE OF MINISTRY FROM WHICH SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL ASSISTANCE CAN BE DISPENSED. THE MINISTRY CENTER IS THE COLLECTION CENTER FOR DONATIRONS OF CLOTHING, FOOD, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, FURNITURE, APPLIANCES AND OTHER ITEMS THAT ARE GIVEN FREE OF CHARGE TO DESERVIE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY.

THE CLUB OPERATES A CLUBBHOUSE, GOLF COURSE AND RELATED AMENITIES FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF ITS MEMBERS.

PROVIDE RESIDENTIAL CARE SERVICES FOR PERSONS LIVING IN FACILITIES FOR THE DISABLED. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE ROOM, BOARD, HOME CARE, TRANSPORTATION AND RECREATION SERVICES.
