NEIGHBORHOOD PLACE OF PUNA (NPP) IS A CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT PREVENTION PROGRAM. NPP PROVIDES SERVICES TO HELP FAMILIES BUILD A SAFE AND NURTURING HOME THROUGH OUTREACH, HOME VISITS, INFORMAL COUNSELING, INFORMATION, REFERRAL, ADVOCACY, AND SUPPORT.

WE PROVIDE SERVICES YEAR ROUND ON THE ISLANDS OF HAWAI'I, O'AHU AND MAUI. OUR AGENCY IS SOLELY STAFFED 100% BY VOLUNTEERS AND SOLELY SUPPORTED BY PUBLIC DONATIONS. OUR TEAM IS DEDICATED TO SEEKING OUT THE HIDDEN AND FORGOTTEN UNSHELTERED CHILDREN ACROSS THE ISLANDS TO PROVIDE MONTHLY CARE, HOLIDAY EVENTS, SCHOOL SUPPORT AND SUMMER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. WE ALSO PROVIDE ONGOING WORKSHOPS THAT HELP THE CHILDREN DEVELOP WITH A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE, SUCH AS OUR MOMMY AND ME PROGRAM, LIFE SKILLS TRAINING, EMPLOYMENT READINESS AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS. WE ARE OPENING A DORMITORY ON BIG ISLAND FOR HOMELESS

PROVIDE SUPPORT TO FOSTER HOMES INCLUDING COORDINATION OF VETERINARY SERVICES AND PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION TO "ADOPTION EVENTS" AS THEY ARE HELD. COORDINATE ADOPTIONS TO PERMANENT HOMES INCLUDING INTERVIEWS, HOME VISITS, AND SUPPORT. CONDUCT "ADOPTION EVENTS" TO FURTHER OUR PURPOSE OF INCREASING THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS RE-HOMED, AND REDUCE THE NUMBER OF ANIMALS EUTHANIZED. COORDINATE WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES TO SUPPORT THIS EFFORT AND PROVIDE PUBLIC SPACE AND ADVERTISING FOR THE EVENTS. VOLUNTEER AT LOW/NO-COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINICS, PROMOTING RESPONSIBLE POPULATION CONTROL. EDUCATE THE PUBLIC THROUGH PRESENTATIONS AT SCHOOLS AND TO OTHER INTERESTED GROUPS ON THE CARE, AVAILABLE RESOURCES AND THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF PET OWNERSHIP.
