VLA PROMOTES THE PROFESSIONAL IMAGE AND FACTUAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE FOREST PRODUCTS INDUSTRY TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT, COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA POLICY MAKERS, AND CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS. VLA LOBBIES AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT AND SEEKS TO CREATE LEGISLATIVE AWARENESS AND REPRESENTATION FOR SMALL AND FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES.

ADVOCACY - FOSA ASSISTS MEMBERS TO ENGAGE WITH LAWMAKERS AND POLICYMAKERS TO PROMOTE POLICIES THAT ARE FAVORABLE TO FIBER OPTIC SENSING TECHNOLOGY AND EXPANDING ITS AVAILABILITY AND USE IN BOTH THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS. FOSA HAS SPONSORED TWO "HILL DAY" EVENTS DURING WHICH MEMBERS TRAVELED TO WASHINGTON, D.C. FOR MEETINGS WITH THEIR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS ISSUES OF IMPORTANCE TO ENTITIES THAT HAVE DEPLOYED OR WISH TO DEPLOY FIBER OPTIC SENSING TECHNOLOGY.
