WEST HANOVER TOWNSHIP FIRE COMPANY 1 IS AN ALL VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY. THE COMPANY PROVIDES FIRE PROTECTION, RESCUE SERVICES, FOREST FIRE PROTECTION, MEDICAL SERVICES, SPILL CONTAINMENT, AND SUPPORT TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE TOWNSHIP AND MUTUAL AID TO NEIGHBORING TOWNSHIPS. THE FIRE COMPANY HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PROTECTING APPROXIMATELY 18 SQUARE MILES OF DAUPHIN COUNTY. THE FIRE COMPANY CURRENTLY HAS 40 ACTIVE FIREFIGHTERS AND EMTS.

FIRE PROTECTION, RESCUE OPERATIONS AND PROMOTING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR SAFETY AND OTHER PUBLIC WELFARE TOPICS FOR THE CITY OF LOCK HAVEN, PENNSYLVANIA AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES AND MUNCIPALITIES.

TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FIRE & RESCUE SERVICES ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. TO ALSO PROVIDE NON-EMERGENCY SERVICES (I.E. FIRE PREVENTION TRAINING, SAFETY INSPECTIONS, ETC.) TO THE COMMUNITY.

AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO ARE VICTIMS OF NATURAL OR CIVIL DISASTERS OR WHO ARE FACING SEVERE FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS SUCH AS DIFFICULTY IN MEETING BASIC EXPENSES AFTER THE DEATH OF AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER OR THE INABILITY TO PAY MEDICAL COSTS THAT ARE UNUSUAL AND UNINSURED.
