SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS - THE AMA PUBLISHED THE JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, JAMA NETWORK OPEN, AND 11 SPECIALTY JOURNALS. THESE JOURNALS ARE DISTRIBUTED WORLDWIDE TO MORE THAN 348,700 INDIVIDUAL RECIPIENTS IN PRINT AND TO MORE THAN 2,900 INSTITUTIONS THROUGH ONLINE ACCESS. THE JOURNALS INCLUDED DEFINITIVE, PEER REVIEWED CLINICAL AND INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS SPANNING MAJOR MEDICAL DISCIPLINES TO SUPPORT INFORMED CLINICAL DECISION-MAKING AND TO ENABLE PHYSICIANS TO REMAIN CURRENT PROFESSIONALLY.


THE AMA IS COMMITTED TO SEEKING CHANGE IN THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEGISLATIVE/REGULATORY ENVIRONMENTS TO PROTECT THE NEEDS OF PATIENTS AND ENABLE PHYSICIANS TO PROVIDE OPTIMAL CARE. PREDOMINANT AREAS OF FOCUS ARE RESPONDING TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, REDUCING HEALTH CARE DISPARITIES, PROMOTING MEDICARE PAYMENT REFORM; EXPANDING CARE FOR THE UNINSURED; REMOVING OBSTACLES IN THE HEALTH SECTOR; PUSHING FOR REGULATORY RELIEF; ENDING THE DRUG MISUSE EPIDEMIC; AND PREVENTING GUN VIOLENCE. THE AMA ALSO COMMITS TO HELPING PHYSICIANS OVERCOME SYSTEMIC BARRIERS, PARTICULARLY THOSE THAT INTERFERE WITH THE PATIENT-PHYSICIAN RELATIONSHIP OR IMPEDE THE ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF THE PHYSICIAN PRACTICE.


THE AMA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND SALES OF MEDICAL INFORMATION BOOKS AND CONTENT DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF MEMBERS, POTENTIAL MEMBERS, CONSUMERS, AND OTHERS.
