THE ORGANIZATION IS COMMITTED TO "INITIATING AND SUPPORTING SIGNS OF HOPE FOR THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES" BY EMPOWERING PEOPLE, ACHIEVING SOCIAL JUSTICE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTING THE WELL BEING OF COMMUNITIES AS ENVISIONED BY CHRISTIAN FAITH.

Part 3 - Line 4a

BUILDING YOUTH LEADERSHIP - KID CITY IS A YEAR-ROUND, YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT, COLLEGE ACCESS AND SUCCESS PROGRAM ESTABLISHED IN THE FALL OF 2008. PROGRAM PRIORITIES ARE COLLEGE ACCESS AND SUCCESS, JOB AND COLLEGE READINESS, AND CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP. IN 2021, KID CITY HAD OVER 400 STUDENTS IN COLLEGE, ABOUT 60 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AND IN ADDITION, SERVED SIBLINGS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF PARTICIPATING STUDENTS. COLLEGE SUPPORT, MENTORING FOR COLLEGE ADMISSIONS, TUTORING, AND MUSIC LESSONS ARE OFFERED AFTER-SCHOOL. SUMMER AND WINTER BREAK PROGRAMS INCLUDE LEADERSHIP, MUSIC, DANCE, BAND, JOB TRAINING, ETC. KID CITY ENGAGES PARENTS AND FAMILIES TO SUPPORT FIRST GENERATION, COLLEGE-GOING YOUTH FROM LOW INCOME FAMILIES, IN NEIGHBORHOODS IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH LOS ANGELES.


CLAREMONT SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY - HALF OF THE INITIAL GIFT WITH WHICH THE URBAN FOUNDATION WAS FOUNDED IS A PERMANENTLY RESTRICTED FUND TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAMS AND PROFESSOR OF URBAN MINISTRY AT THE CLAREMONT SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY. THE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY HAS ELECTED NOT TO WITHDRAW FUNDS THIS YEAR
