SENIOR AND DISABILITY ACTION MOBILIZES AND EDUCATES SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO FIGHT FOR INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE. MORE THAN 1000 PEOPLE TAKE PART IN OUR HOUSING, HEALTH CARE, TRANSIT AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS EACH YEAR.

SENIOR & DISABILITY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (SEMP) PROVIDED SENIOR AND DISABILITY SURVIVAL SCHOOL CLASSES IN-PERSON AND ON ZOOM IN ENGLISH, RUSSIAN, AND CHINESE, TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, COVID UPDATES, TRANSIT PROGRAMS, FOOD, HOUSING, AND DIGITAL ACCESS. SENIOR AND DISABILITY UNIVERSITY PROVIDED ONLINE CLASSES ON DIGITAL ORGANIZING IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH, ALONG WITH EDUCATIONAL EVENTS ABOUT CONSERVATORSHIP, FREE WIFI, DISABILITY AND ABLEISM, FINANCIAL JUSTICE, ELDER ABUSE, AND OTHER TOPICS.


SDA'S HOUSING PROGRAM MOBILIZED SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES THROUGH THE HOUSING COLLABORATIVE AND SRO WORKING GROUP TO ADVOCATE FOR DEEPLY AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND ELEVATOR REPAIRS IN SRO HOTELS. THE GROUP SUCCEEDED IN SECURING INCREASED FUNDING FOR RENTAL SUBSIDIES FOR SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND FUNDING FOR SRO ELEVATOR REPLACEMENT.


LONG-TERM CARE PROGRAM: THROUGH CONSUMER RIGHTS FOR COMMUNITY LIVING (CRCL), PEER ADVOCATES OFFERED SUPPORT TO 650 PEOPLE IN 5 LANGUAGES AROUND ISSUES OF HOUSING, HEALTH CARE, BENEFITS, AND MORE. AS PART OF THE CROSS-BAY MUTUAL AID NETWORK, THIS PROGRAM ALSO CONTINUED TO PROVIDE FOOD DELIVERY AND OTHER SUPPORT TO SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ISOLATED IN THEIR HOMES BECAUSE OF COVID-19.
