BIG BEAR LAKE RESIDENTS FOR SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS OPPOSED BALLOT MEASURE "O" AT THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022 ELECTION. MEASURE "O" WOULD HAVE AMENDED THE BIG BEAR LAKE MUNICIPAL CODE TO SEVERELY LIMIT/PROHIBIT SHORT-TERM VACATION RENTALS IN PRIVATE RESIDENCES. IF PASSED MEASURE "O" WOULD HAVE HURT THE BIG BEAR ECONOMY BY PREVENTING THE PLACEMENT OF FAMILIES INTO HOMES, LIMITING HOME PROPERTY OWNERS AUTONOMY IN HOW THEY USE THEIR OWN HOME, FORCING LAYOFFS OF SEASONAL EMPLOYEES, LIMITING TOURISM, AND CAUSING AT LEAST $12 MILLION IN LOST REVENUE.
