THE MISSION OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS IS TO PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND SPORTS TRAINING AND ATHLETIC COMPETITION IN A VARIETY OF OLYMPIC-TYPE SPORTS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES.

UNIFIED CHAMPION SCHOOLS UNIFIED CHAMPION SCHOOLS (UCS) IS A STRATEGY DEDICATED USING INCLUSIVE SPORTS OPPORTUNITIES AS A CATALYST FOR SOCIAL CHANGE. IN ADDITION TO INCLUSIVE SPORTS THE UCS STRATEGY BRINGS STUDENTS WITH AND WITHOUT INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES TOGETHER THROUGH INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS AND WHOLE-SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES. SOUT CURRENTLY HAS ONE OR MORE OF THE UCS COMPONENTS TAKING PLACE IN 47 HIGH SCHOOLS, 2 MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND 75 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT UTAH.
SEASON SPORTS SPECIAL OLYMPICS UTAH (SOUT) IS A LEADER IN PROVIDING YEAR-ROUND SPORTS TRAINING AND COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH AND WITHOUT INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF COMMUNITY-BASED VOLUNTEER COACHES, SOUT OFFERS TRAINING AND COMPETITION IN YEAR-ROUND SEASON-APPROPRIATE SPORTS. SPORTS INCLUDE SNOWSHOEING, BASKETBALL, TRACK AND FIELD, CHEERLEADING, SOFTBALL, SWIMMING, BOWLING, CYCLING, BOCCE, DANCE, FLAG FOOTBALL, GOLF, AND SOCCER.
HEALTH & FITNESS HEALTH AND FITNESS PROGRAMS INCLUDE HEALTHY ATHLETES, WHICH EDUCATES ATHLETES ABOUT HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHOICES, AND OFFERS HEALTH SCREENINGS IN DENTAL, HEARING, VISION, PHYSICAL STAMINA AND GENERAL OVER HEALTH. SOUT ALSO OFFERS COMMUNITY-BASED HEALTH FAIRS THAT PROVIDES PEOPLE WITH ID AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS WITH INFORMATION ON LOCAL HEALTH RESOURCES.
COMPETITIONS SPECIAL OLYMPICS UTAH HOSTS BOTH LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL COMPETITIONS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SPONSORS ATHLETES TO COMPETE IN THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS USA GAMES AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD GAMES.
