Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

PROVIDES A COMMUNITY IN WHICH STUDENTS MAY GROW IN VIRTUE, HAVE ACCESS TO CATHOLIC SACRAMENTS, AND BE IN COMMUNION WITH OTHER TENANTS WHO ARE ALSO SEEKING VIRTUE AND LEARNING TO BE LEADERS IN THEIR HOMETOWN COMMUNITIES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

HOUSING:NEWMAN LIVING OFFERS FAITH BASED HOUSING TO COLLEGE STUDENTS IN THE FARGO/MOORHEAD AREA. THIS PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH A PLACE TO GROW WITH OTHER STUDENTS WITH SIMILAR VALUES AND BELIEFS. MANY STUDENTS STRUGGLE TO PRACTICE THEIR FAITH OR ARE IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THOSE WHO ATTACK THEM FOR THEIR BELIEFS; NEWMAN LIVING OFFERS A SAFE PLACE FOR THEM TO PRACTICE THEIR BELIEFS AND PLACE THEM WITH ROOMMATES WHO SHARE SIMILAR BELIEFS SO THAT THEY CAN GROW TOGETHER. NEWMAN LIVING ALSO CHALLENGES STUDENTS TO PERFORM WITH EXCELLENCE IN THEIR STUDIES, IN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS, AND IN THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS BY PARTNERING WITH ST. PAUL'S NEWMAN CENTER TO OFFER RETREATS, FORMATION CLASSES AND MATERIALS, AND 24/7 ACCESS TO THE CHAPEL WHERE THEY CAN PRAY AND KNOW OUR LORD MORE DEEPLY THROUGHOUT THEIR TIME HERE. WE HAD 63 OF OUR 82 ROOMS FILLED DURING THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR WITH OVER 100 APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR.

ACTIVITIES/EVENTS:NEWMAN LIVING OFFERS MONTHLY EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES WHERE TENANTS ARE ABLE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER AND BUILD COMMUNITY. HAVING THAT COMMUNITY IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO STUDENTS SO THAT THEY HAVE OTHERS TO TURN TO IN TIMES OF CHALLENGES AND DIFFICULTIES. COMMUNITY ALSO ACTS AS ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNERS DURING THEIR JOURNEY THROUGH COLLEGE. PART OF THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE IS TO LEARN TO MAKE GOOD CHOICES IN YOUR LIFE AND HAVING VIRTUOUS ROOMMATES AND NEIGHBORS HELP STEER TENANTS TO THE CHOICES THAT ARE RIGHT AND GOOD. THE ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS THAT NEWMAN LIVING HOSTS ALSO DEMONSTRATE TO STUDENTS THAT THEY CAN HAVE FUN AND A GOOD TIME WITHOUT FACTORS THAT CAN CAUSE HARM: ALCOHOL, DRUGS, GAMBLING, ETC. FUTURE EVENTS ARE BEING PLANNED TO HELP BREAK THE ICE BETWEEN TENANTS WHO DON'T KNOW EACH OTHER SO THAT THEY ARE COMFORTABLE SPEAKING WITH ALL TENANTS AND CREATE A WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE.
