WILDLIFE EDUCATION THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC NEGATIVELY AFFECTED OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM NUMBERS. WE PRESENTED 29 WILDLIFE EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO SCHOOLS AND OTHER COMMUNITY GROUPS, BOTH ONSITE AND OFF, REACHING A TOTAL AUDIENCE OF 737. IN MARCH OF 2020, WE SWITCHED TO A DIGITAL FORMAT FOR OUR PROGRAMMING DUE TO HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS SURROUNDING THE PANDEMIC. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROGRAMS AND ANIMAL MEET-AND-GREET SESSIONS TO A WIDER AUDIENCE THAN USUAL. RECENTLY WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GO BACK TO PRESENTING PROGRAMS IN CLASSROOMS IN SCHOOLS. WE HELD ONE ONSITE EVENT, OUR ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE (73 PEOPLE ATTENDED) OCTOBER 2ND THROUGH THE 4TH, 2020 AND BEGAN A SERIES OF ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS FOR THE SUMMER OF 2021. THAT SERIES INCLUDED 5 ENCOUNTERS PER DAY AND SAW A TOTAL ATTENDANCE OF 337 PEOPLE IN JUST THE MONTH OF JUNE IN FY21. NMWC HAD 2,000 VISITORS ONSITE TO VIEW AND LEARN ABOUT OUR AMBASSADOR ANIMALS DURING FY21. AGAIN, THIS LOWER-THAN-USUAL NUMBER WAS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
