THE MISSION OF THE SPIRIT OF AURORA IS TO PROMOTE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN AURORA.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES- INCLUDES SUPPORT FOR OTHER CITY OF AURORA PROGRAMS LIKE THE AURORA WATER CARES (AWC) THAT PROVIDES BILL PAYMENT ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY DUE TO A PERSONAL CRISIS OR EMERGENCY, SUPPORT FOR THE HISTORIC AURORA FOX PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, THE AURORA HOMELESSNESS PROGRAM AND OTHER VARIOUS CITY PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION, OTHER AURORA COMMUNITY 501(C)(3) NONPROFITS CAN APPLY FOR SOA FUNDS FROM THE UNRESTRICTED ASSETS. THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF THE FUNDS THAT ARE RELEASED FROM SPIRIT OF AURORA TO OTHER COMMUNITY PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON THE BOARD'S DISCRETION.


ANIMAL CARE/SERVICES- THIS PROGRAM HELPS OUR FURRY FRIENDS FIND SAFE, LOVING FOREVER HOMES. DONATIONS SUPPORT VETERINARY NEEDS, MEDICAL TREATMENT, FOOD AND SHELTER FOR HOMELESS ANIMALS; INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION OF CRUELTY VIOLATIONS; AND PREVENTION/EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.


CHILD AND YOUTH SERVICES- THESE SERVICES OFFER MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO AURORA YOUTH THROUGHOUT THE CITY TO GET/KEEP THEM INVOLVED WITH HEALTHY, PRODUCTIVE AND SAFE ACTIVITIES. PROGRAMS LIKE TEEN COURT THAT EDUCATES YOUTH ON THE JUDICIAL PROCESS AND TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS AND THE COMPASS PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES AFTER-SCHOOL ACADEMIC AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS TO YOUNG PEOPLE ATTENDING AURORA PUBLIC SCHOOLS. IN ADDITION, THERE IS THE SHOTS FOR TOTS & TEENS PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES LOW AND NO COST VACCINATIONS.


AURORA POLICE DEPARTMENT SUPPORT SERVICES- DONATIONS TO THESE APD PROGRAMS PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THE K-9 UNITS & THE SWAT/SRT UNITS. VICTIM SERVICES FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND CHILD ABUSE. DONATIONS ALSO SUPPORT THE POLICE AREA REPRESENTATIVES (PAR).
