IN 2021, MERCY'S GATE PROVIDED FOOD PANTRY VISITS TO 4,323 HOUSEHOLDS REPRESENTING 15,030 PEOPLE. THIS SERVICE IS VALUED AT $233K. RENTAL/ MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE OF $328K WAS PROVIDED TO 404 HOUSEHOLDS (421 OFFERS OF ASSISTANCE), HELPING THEM AVOID EVICTION AND HOMELESSNESS. THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE COLORADO SPRINGS UTILITIES' PROJECT COPE AND ENERGY OUTREACH COLORADO, WE PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO THOSE FACING DISCONNECTION OF THEIR UTILITIES. THESE PROGRAMS HELPED 445 HOUSEHOLDS (1287 INDIVIDUALS), MAINTAIN HEAT, LIGHT, COOKING CAPABILITIES AND WATER WITH A COMBINED VALUE OF $243K. ADDITIONALLY, MERCY'S GATE PROVIDED DIRECT UTILITIES ASSISTANCE FOR 71 HOUSEHOLDS TOTALING $42K. OTHER ASSISTANCE INCLUDED A MEDICAL PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDED 408 HOUSEHOLDS ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE, MEDICATIONS, VISION EXAMS AND EYEGLASSES VALUED AT $35K, PREPARATION OF 643 TAX RETURNS FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH THE VITA PROGRAM WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $193K.
