THE NSCD RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS PROVIDE LESSONS AND EQUIPMENT FOR ADAPTIVE ALPINE AND CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING, SNOWBOARDING, SKI BIKE, MULTI AND SINGLE DAY CAMPING EXPERIENCES, RIVER RAFTING, CANOE, KAYAK, STAND-UP PADDLE, FISHING, THERAPEUTIC HORSEBACK RIDING, VETERANS SPECIFIC PROGRAMS, ARCHERY, AIRGUN, OBSTACLE COURSE, ROCK CLIMBING, ABILITY CLINICS, AND CUSTOM GROUP ACTIVITIES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH ANY TYPE OF DISABILITY AGED 5 AND OLDER. PARTICIPANTS DO NO HAVE TO BE COLORADO RESIDENTS. IN 2022, THE NSCD PROVIDED 18,000 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION AND PROGRAMMING TO 1600 ATHLETE PARTICIPANTS IN RECREATIONAL AND ADVENTURE SPORTS.
THE NSCD COMPETITION CENTER HAS TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR ELITE AND DEVELOPING RACERS IN ALPINE AND CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING, SIT SKI, STAND SKI, MONO-SKI, BLIND SKI, AND SNOWBOARD. THE COMPETITION PROGRAM IS BASED ON THE SAME TEACHING PRINCIPALS USED FOR ABLE-BODIED COMPETITIVE SKI RACING ORGANIZATIONS. THE NSCD COACHES AND TRAINS ATHLETES FROM BEGINNER TO ELITE LEVEL COMPETITORS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS, AMPUTATIONS, PARAPLEGIA, SPINA BIFIDA, CEREBRAL PALSY, MS, POST-POLIO AND CONGENITAL DISABILITIES. IN 2022, THE COMPETITION CENTER PROVIDED OVER 14,000 HOURS OF COACHING AND TRAINING, AND SERVED 91 ATHLETES ACROSS ALL TRAINING AND RACES.
