COMMUNITY CLOSET: WE ACCEPT DONATIONS OF NEW AND GENTLY USED CLOTHES, SHOES, AND BABY EQUIPMENT, AS WELL AS DONATIONS OF DIAPERS, WIPES, AND UNOPENED FORMULA WHICH ARE DISTRIBUTED TO FOSTER FAMILIES IN SOUTH LOUISIANA. WE ASSIST IN FINDING BEDS AND DRESSERS FOR FOSTER FAMILIES WHO TAKE IN A CHILD, AND FOR BIOLOGICAL FAMILIES WORKING TOWARD REUNIFICATION. WE ARE AVAILABLE DURING SCHEDULED TIMES FOR SHOPPING, ACCEPTING DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEERING.
FIRST NIGHTS: CHILDREN OFTEN ENTER FOSTER CARE WITH FEW OR NO PERSONAL ITEMS AND MANY FOSTER PARENTS ARE GIVEN LIMITED TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE ARRIVAL OF A CHILD PLACED IN THEIR HOME. THE FIRST NIGHTS CAN BE HECTIC AND STRESSFUL FOR CHILDREN AND FOSTER FAMILIES. OUR INTENTION IS TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION EASIER FOR ALL. FIRST NIGHTS BAGS ARE REUSABLE, OVERNIGHT BAGS THAT ARE FILLED WITH CLOTHING AND HYGIENE ESSENTIALS AND ARE GIVEN TO CHILDREN AS THEY ENTER CARE.
TBRI: WE PROVIDE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FOSTER COMMUNITY, EQUIPPING THEM TO HELP CHILDREN THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED TRAUMA THROUGH THE TRUST-BASED RELATIONAL INTERVENTION PROGRAM.
