THE MAKE A CHESS MOVE MACM PROGRAM IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED AND STAFFED TO DISRUPT THE SCHOOL-TO-PRISON PIPELINE BY DEVELOPING THE ABILITIES OF YOUTH TO REDUCE DESTRUCTIVE DECISION MAKING AND INCREASE PRO-SOCIAL BEHAVIOR IN THEIR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES. MACM DEVELOPS THE STUDENT TO SET GOALS AND TENACIOUSLY ATTACK THEIR GOALS, USING COMPASSION AND ETHICAL DECISION MAKING SKILLS. MACM BUILDS HUMAN CAPITAL CONTINUALLY TRAINING NEW YOUTH LEADERS TO BUILD TRUST AND DEVELOP POSITIVE PEER AND ADULT RELATIONSHIPS WHICH FOSTER MARKETABLE TEAM MANAGEMENT SKILLS, CONFIDENCE, AND POSITIVE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. THROUGH THE GAME OF CHESS, MACM HAS BUILT INTO THE CURRICULUM LESSONS THAT IDENTIFY AND TARGET AN INCREASE IN POSITIVE YOUTH PROTECTIVE FACTORS AND REDUCTION OF YOUTH RISK FACTORS.
