VETERAN AND COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE AND INTEGRATION THROUGH JOB TRAINING. VETS INC THROUGH ITS COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER "THE LANDING ZONE" PROVIDES A PLACE FOR VETERANS TO WORK OR GATHER WITH OTHERS FOR SUPPORT AND UNDERSTANDING WITH THE PURPOSE OF HELPING REINTEGRATION WITH THE COMMUNITY.

USE OF THE LAND ZONE FACILITIES FOR VETERANS SUPPORT 6% OF THE FACILITY SPACE IS MAINTAINED EXCLUSIVELY FOR A VFW MANAGED MEETING ROOM FOR VETERANS AND VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS. IN ADDITION VETS INC PROVIDES VETERAN MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT SERVICES WHICH INCLUDE FUNCTIONS SUCH AS: VETERAN PEER TO PEER MENTORING CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER FREE RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR AT RISK VETERANS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE PROVIDE GRANTS TO VETERANS IN NEED. THE GRANTS WERE ESPECIALLY HELPFUL DUE TO A TORNADO WHICH HIT THE CITY OF GAYLORD. WE WERE ALSO ABLE TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LOCAL VFW WHICH ENABLED THE VFW TO PROVIDE FIRST RUN MOVIES FREE OF CHARGE AT THE VFW OUTDOOR PAVILION FOR THE COMMUNITY
USE OF THE LANDING ZONE FACILITIES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING THE LANDING ZONE RECREATION FACILITY INCLUDES A 24 LANE BOWLING CENTER A RESTAURANT AN ARCADE AND OUTDOOR RECREATION INCLUDING A PAVILION HORSESHOE PITS 2 SAND VOLLEYBALL COURTS AND CORN HOLE. THESE FACILITIES ARE USED SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING JOB SKILLS TO VETERANS AND THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS WITH THE COMMUNITY WHO ARE IN NEED. VETS INC PROVIDES MENTORING AND PEOPLE SKILLS TRAINING TO VETERANS TO ASSIST IN THE TRANSITION BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY. VETS INC PROVIDED EMPLOYMENT TO 3 VETERANS AND A FAMILY MEMBER OF A VETERAN AND 3 MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. THE EMPLOYMENT STRATEGY IS TO ASSIST THE VETERANS IN WORKING WITH AND PROVIDING SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY TO PROMOTE BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE ISSUES OF THE VETERANS AND NON- VETERANS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. THE TRAINING RECEIVED BY THE VETERANS INVOLVES MAINTENANCE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INTER-ACTION WITH CUSTOMERS INVOLVING FOOD SERVICES FITNESS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES.
