THE CASH CAMPAIGN OF MARYLAND PROMOTES ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT FOR LOW-TO-MODERATE INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN BALTIMORE AND ACROSS MARYLAND. CASH ACCOMPLISHES ITS MISSION THROUGH OPERATING A PORTFOLIO OF DIRECT SERVICE PROGRAMS, BUILDING ORGANIZATIONAL AND FIELD CAPACITY, AND LEADING POLICY AND ADVOCACY INITIATIVES TO STRENGTHEN FAMILY ECONOMIC STABILITY.

FINANCIAL CAPABILITY SERVICES INCLUDING FREE TAX PREPARATION, FINANCIAL EDUCATION, FINANCIAL COACHING, AND SCREENING FOR PUBLIC BENEFITS. FREE TAX PREPARATION IS OFFERED THROUGH THE IRS VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. IN 2020, CASH AND ITS PARTNERS PREPARED 24,500 FREE TAX RETURNS, PROVIDING $34 MILLION IN REFUNDS TO LOW INCOME TAXPAYERS. TAXES WERE PREPARED BY 659 IRS CERTIFIED VOLUNTEERS AT 45 SITES ACROSS 19 COUNTIES. OVER 80 VOLUNTEER EDUCATORS AND COACHES PROVIDED FREE FINANCIAL EDUCATION TO 8,553 PARTICIPANTS IN 486 WORKSHOPS, AND COACHED 231 INDIVIDUALS. OVER 297 HOUSEHOLDS WERE SCREENED FOR PUBLIC BENEFITS WORTH $449,550.
PRACTITIONER TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING INCLUDES VOLUNTEER AND PARTNER TRAINING, FEE FOR SERVICE CUSTOMIZED TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. IN 2020, CASH PROVIDED TRAINING TO 1,069 PRACTITIONERS. CASH OFFERS AN ANNUAL FINANCIAL EDUCATION SUMMIT AND BI-ENNIAL COMMON CENTS CONFERENCE.
POLICY RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY FOCUSES ON POLICIES THAT HELP OR HINDER THE FINANCIAL SECURITY OF LOW-TO-MODERATE INCOME MARYLANDERS.
