Part 3
THIS YEAR WE HAVE MANAGED TO DOUBLE THE FAMILIES THAT WE HAVE DONATED CASKETS AND URNS TO. UNFORTUNATELY, WE CURRENTLY RELY ON THE FUNERAL DIRECTORS TO SEND US FAMILIES WHO SHOW FINANCIAL DISTRESS AND HAVE LIMITED RESOURCES TO PAY FOR THE COSTS OF BURIAL. WE HAVE WORKED WITH OVER 10 FUNERAL HOMES WITHIN KANSAS AND MISSOURI. AND DUE TO THE GRASSROOTS AND WORD-OF-MOUTH ADVOCATION, MOST OF THE FUNERAL HOMES THAT WE HAVE WORKED WITH HAVE EITHER LOWERED THEIR PRICES FOR INFANT LOSSES OR HAVE MADE CERTAIN SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE UP TO A LIMIT OF COURSE. THIS YEAR WE EVEN HELPED A FAMILY WITHIN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA AFTER LEARNING OF A LOCAL TIE THAT KNEW OF US AND REACH OUT TO SEE IF WE COULD HELP OUT. WE ALSO DONATED A CUDDLE COT TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL TO USE FOR FAMILIES WHO WANTED TO SPEND A LITTLE EXTRA TIME WITH THEIR LOVED ONES TO AID IN THE CREATION OF KEEPSAKES THAT THE HOSPITAL WILL DO FOR THE FAMILIES IF AVAILABLE. OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO REMOVE THE INCOME RESTRICTIONS FOR FAMILIES AND HELP EVERYONE WHO EXPERIENCES A LOSS. WE ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SEE OTHER STATES ADOPT STATE EXEMPTIONS FOR FAMILIES WHO EXPERIENCE PERINATAL LOSS. AND ONE DAY MAKE IT A FEDERAL EXEMPTION AS WELL.
