BUILDS: IN 2021 HALA BEGAN WORK ON THE BIDDY MASON CHARITABLE FOUNDATION PROJECT. WITH THE HELP OF GREYSTAR, WE COMPLETED SHORING UP THE ROOF AND RE-ROOFING ENTIRE HOUSE. PLANNING WORK CONTINUED WITH FAMILY PROMISE OF SANTA CLARITA VALLEY FOR A 2022 START DATE. WORKS-IN 2021, HALA CONTINUED ITS WORK IN A BUILDING INDUSTRY WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM TO TRAIN AT-RISK CLIENTS IN CONSTRUCTION TRADE SKILLS. STUDENTS COMPLETED A RIGOROUS ONLINE COURSE BEFORE ATTENDING IN-PERSON SHOP CLASSES. HALA SECURED INTERVIEWS FOR THE STUDENTS WITH LOCAL BUILDERS AND CONTRACTORS. DESPITE A SIGNIFICANT SETBACK DUE TO COVID, HALA, WAS ABLE TO ENROLL 25 STUDENTS, GRADUATE 23 STUDENTS AND PLACE 23 STUDENTS INTO CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY JOBS. THIS PROGRAM CONTINUES TO GROW AND THRIVE.OTHER FUNDRAISING: PEER TO PEER FUNDRAISING EVENT- UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO COVID, HALA HAD TO PIVOT AWAY FROM ITS WELL-KNOWN ANNUAL GALA IN 2021 AND INSTEAD HOST A VIRTUAL WEBINAR AND FOCUSED ON A BOARD OF DIRECTORS SUPPORTED PEER-TO-PEER FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN.
CARES: ENGAGEMENT EVENTS-HALA'S ANNUAL CARES PROJECTS INCLUDE ORGANIZING DIAPER DRIVES AND CARE PACKAGES OF PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS AND CERTAIN LIFE NECESSITIES. HALA ORGANIZES THE PRODUCTION OF THESE PACKAGES AND DISTRIBUTES THEM TO THE LOCAL HOMELESS COMMUNITY. OTHER CARE EVENTS INCLUDED ORGANIZING VOLUNTEERS TO DO SPECIAL DAYS TO FRESHEN UP OUR EXISTING SHELTER PROJECTS. HALA USES THESE CARE PROJECTS TO REACH OUT TO NONPROFITS, CORPORATIONS, AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY TO CREATE A WEB OF COLLABORATORS IN DIRECTLY ASSISTING PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO COVID, HALA WAS UNABLE TO ARRANGE VOLUNTEERS AS IT HAD DONE IN THE PAST. ALL IN-PERSON VOLUNTEER EFFORTS WERE PUT ON HOLD DURING THE LOCKDOWN IN 2021.
