GOOD SAMARITAN MINISTRIES AND THRIFT STORE ADVANCES FAMILY LIFE, HUMAN DIGNITY AND THE COMMON GOOD BY PROVIDING SERVICES TO MEET THE PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF THOSE MOST IN NEED. OUR SERVICES INCLUDE A STORE WHERE OUR COMMUNITY CAN PURCHASE AFFORDABLE MERCHANDISE AND THOSE IN NEED CAN RECEIVE MERCHANDISE AT NO COST. (FISCAL YEAR 20-21 WAS 360 RECIPIENTS $11,127). THE STORE ALSO SERVES AS EMPLOYMENT THAT PROVIDES FULL BENEFITS AND JOB SKILL DEVELOPMENT TO OUR EMPLOYEES. THE ASSISTANCE MINISTRY PROVIDES PAYMENTS ON BEHALF OF OUR CLIENTS TO MEET THEIR BASIC AND EMERGENCY NEEDS. THE HUNTHAUSEN PROGRAM IS A SELF-SUSTAINING PROGRAM BY THE NATURE OF ITS SPLIT-GRANT/LOAN AWARD AND PROVIDES A PATH TO PERMANENT HOUSING. OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS ASSISTS CLIENTS WITH NAVIGATING THE RESOURCES IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR MEETING THEIR TRANSPORTATION. MEAL, MENTAL SUPPORT, HOUSING, AND OTHER NEEDS.

THE STORE SERVES THOSE IN NEED VIA MANY DIFFERENT AVENUES. THE MERCHANDISE FOR SALE IN THE STORE IS OFFERED AT AN AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE TO BUYING NEW AND IS ALSO DISTRIBUTED TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE IT. THE STORE PICKS UP MERCHANDISE THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY, PARTICIPATES IN A RECYCLING PROGRAM, PROVIDES FIRST-TIME EMPLOYMENT AND/OR ASSISTS EMPLOYEES IN JOB SKILL DEVELOPMENT. IN ADDITION, THE STORE SUPPORTS THE OPERATIONAL EXPENSE FOR THE MINISTRY AND GIVES A PORTION OF STORE PROFITS TO BE USED IN THE ASSISTANCE MINISTRY PAYMENTS.

OUR PLACE IS A PEER-RUN SUPPORT PROGRAM SPECIALIZING IN BEHAVIORAL CHANGES AND THOSE RECOVERING FROM ADDICTION. GOOD SAMARITAN BEGAN MANAGING OUR PLACE IN DECEMBER 2019. SINCE THEN, INDIVIDUALS AND SERVICES HAVE DOUBLED (AVERAGING 700 PEOPLE PER MONTH) WHILE INCREASING THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY 85%.
