TWO HISTORIC SITES OWNED BY RBHYATES MUSEUM WAS AWARDED "SITES OF MEMORY ASSOCIATED TO THE UNESCO-SLAVE ROUTE IN MARCH 2019. IN 2022, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE RESEARCH HISTORIAN, AND THE ARCHAEOLOGIST/CURATOR, SEVERAL PAID UNIVERSITY ARCHAEOLOGY STUDENT INTERNS, NEW ARCHAEOLOGY REPORTS WERE ADDED TO SEVERAL OF THE ORIGINAL 74 UNESCO NOMINATIONS UNDER CONSIDERATION. THE PROPERTIES ARE WITHIN THE NATIONAL REGISTER HISTORIC DISTRICT OF FREEDMEN'S TOWN & THE RELATED SITES FROM TEXAS TO MEXICO.
TWO UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON ANTHROPOLOGY STUDENT INTERNS WERE HIRED. TWO COMMERCIAL UNITS WERE RENTED FOR THE STORAGE OF DONATED ANTIQUE FURNISHINGS, ARCHAEOLOGY EQUIPMENT & HUNDREDS OF BINS FOR ARTIFACTS FOR ACCESS BY COLLECTION MANAGERS. SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS WORKED WITH STUDENT INTERNS WHO TRANSFERRED & PROCESSED ARTIFACTS & DEVELOPED EXHIBIT CASES. WE HOSTED 40 TOUR GROUPS & STUDENT FIELD TRIPS FROM SCHOOLS IN HARRIS COUNTY. WE HOSTED PRESERVATION VOLUNTEER WORKING WEEKENDS FOR EMPLOYEES FROM 4 COMPANIES.
