TO PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN MATH AND SCIENCE THROUGH COMPETITION AND TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE COMPETITION.

Part 3 - Line 4a

STATEWIDE COMPETITION FOR MATH AND SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FOR MIDDLE SCHOLL STUDENT. ONLINE COMPETITION FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS IN MATH AND SCIENCE. ONLINE STATEWIDE COMPETITION FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN MATH AND SCIENCE. COMPETITION CONSISTS OF FOUR TESTS, ONE IN MENTAL MATHEMATICS, ONE IN CALCULATOR APPLICATIONS, ONE IN MATHEMATICS AND ONE IN SCIENCE.


SETS OF TOURNAMENT TESTS FOR MEMBER SCHOOLS MAY BE PURCHASED TO USE IN WEEKLY COMPETITION. TESTS ARE WRITTEN BY PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS WITH CONTENT IN LINE WITH PUBLIC SCHOOL CURRICULUM. SETS OF TESTS PREVIOUSLY USED TO COMPETITION (AKA TEST POOL) MAY BE PURCHASED FOR PRACTICE COMPETITION. MEMBER SCHOOLS MAY DOWNLOAD THE PREVIOUS WEEK'S TOURNAMENT TEST IF THEY PURCHASE THE CURRENT YEAR'S TEST POOL. THIS ALLOWS STUDENTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO TRAVEL DUE TO SCHOOL FINANCES OR DUE TO PREVIOUS COMMITMENTS TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE MOST RECENT MATERIALS.


SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO SENIOR STUDENTS WITH THE HIGHEST COMPOSITE RANKING ON FOUR TESTS AT THE STATE MEET. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO THE TOP SIX STUDENTS IN EACH OF THE FIVE UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE CLASSIFICATIONS (6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, AND 1A-2A). SCHOLARSHIPS MAY BE USED AT THE RECIPIENTS' SCHOOL OF CHOICE TO FURTHER HIS/HER EDUCATION. STUDENTS MAY ELECT EITHER THE TRADITIONAL COLLEGE ROUTE OR A TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
