THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION IS THE WORLD LEADER IN ALZHEIMER'S CARE, SUPPORT AND RESEARCH.THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION WORKS ON A LOCAL, NATIONAL AND GLOBAL LEVEL TO ENHANCE CARE AND SUPPORT FOR ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER'S AND OTHER DEMENTIAS. AS AN AFFILIATE OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION, THE NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS CHAPTER IS THE LOCAL RESOURCE FOR ALZHEIMER'S CARE, SUPPORT AND EDUCATION. AS THE LARGEST NON-PROFIT FUNDER OF ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH, THE ASSOCIATION IS COMMITTED TO ACCELERATING PROGRESS OF NEW TREATMENTS, PREVENTIONS AND ULTIMATELY A CURE. INFORMATION AND REFERRAL:THE TOLL-FREE 24/7 HELPLINE IS STAFFED BY KNOWLEDGABLE AND CARING PROFESSIONALS TO PROVIDE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION AND A CONNECTION TO LOCAL SERVICES. OVER 2500 CONTACTS WERE MADE DURING THE PAST YEAR.
CARE CONSULTATION:CARE CONSULTANTS IDENTIFY AREAS OF NEED AND PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT THROUGH EDUCATION ABOUT THE DISEASE, SYMPTOMMANAGEMENT, PROBLEM SOLVING, PLANNING FOR FUTURE NEEDS AND LINKS WITH RESOURCES PARTICULARLY DURING TRANSITIONAL OR CRISIS SITUATIONS. OVER 6000 CLIENT CONTACTS WERE MADE BY CASE MANAGEMENT, COUNSELING, REACH AND RCI REACH STAFF. SOME CLIENTS ALSO RECEIVED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR IN-HOME RESPITE CARE AND ADULT DAY CARE.
