WORKED WITH MARYLAND LEGISLATURE AND THE DEPARTMENT OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES TO PASS LAWS TO REBUILD AND SUSTAIN THE OYSTER POPULATION OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY. DURING 2019, WE SUCCESSFULLY OVERRODE THE GOVERNOR'S VETO OF THE OYSTER MANAGEMENT PLAN WORKING GROUP LEIGSLATION; LED THE CHARGE IN DEFEATING LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HAVE RECLASSIFIED AND REDUCED PROTECTED OYSTER SANCTUARIES; KILLED LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HAVE GIVEN CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS THE ABILITY TO PROHIBIT OYSTER AQUACULTURE FARMS FROM LOCATING WITHIN THEIR VIEWSHED; OVERCAME LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HAVE WEAKENED THE PENALTIES FOR THEFT OF OYSTERS THAT THE CEHSAPEAKE BAYSAVERS SPENT A DOZEN YEARS WORKING TO PASS.
