GOTR-DC IS A POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR GIRLS IN THIRD THROUGH EIGHTH GRADES. VOLUNTEERS ARE TRAINED TO DELIVER THE 10-WEEK INTERACTIVE CURRICULUM THAT TEACHES GIRLS LIFE SKILLS, HEALTHY LIVING, AND SELF-RESPECT.

GIRLS ON THE RUN-DC IS A BEFORE-AND AFTER-SCHOOL POSITIVE YOUTH-DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVING OVER 1,800 GIRLS PER YEAR ACROSS ALL EIGHT WARDS OF THE DISTRICT AND PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS FOR THE GIRLS TO DEVELOP AND IMPROVE COMPETENCE, FEEL CONFIDENCE IN WHO THEY ARE, DEVELOP STRENGTH OF CHARACTER, RESPOND TO OTHERS AND ONESELF WITH CARE AND COMPASSION, CREATE POSITIVE CONNECTIONS WITH PEERS AND ADULTS, AND MAKE A MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION TO COMMUNITY AND SOCIETY. 70% OF GIRLS IN THE PROGRAM RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM GIRLS ON THE RUN-DC. THE GIRLS ARE EMPOWERED WITH THE HELP OF OVER 850 VOLUNTEERS A YEAR.
