TO ENRICH THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE AGING POPULATION IN KENDALL COUNTY AND THE SURROUNDING BOERNE AREA BY PROVIDING SENIOR FOCUSED PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

THE NUTRITION PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES BOTH OUR ON-SITE CONGREGATE LUNCH PROGRAM AND HOME DELIVERED MEAL PROGRAM FOR AREA SHUT-INS. MEALS ARE DELIVERED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY OF EACH WEEK. A VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION IS REQUESTED FOR MEALS PROVIDED. THE NUTRITION PROGRAM RECEIVES FUNDING FROM LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL AGENCIES. DESPITE THE CENTER BEING CLOSED FOR 14 MONTHS, THE HOME DELIVERED MEAL SERVICE CONTINUED THROUGH THE PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN AND REOPENED TO SERVE MEMBERS ON MAY 24, 2021. IN FY 2020-2021 THE NUTRITION PROGRAM SERVED A TOTAL OF 7,134 CONGREGATE MEALS AND 61,728 HOME DELIVERED MEALS.


THE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM PROVIDES LOCAL TRANSPORTATION THROUGH THE CENTER, PROVIDES DOOR-TO-DOOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICE IN BOERNE, TO AND FROM KPLACE, DOCTORS' APPOINTMENTS, GROCERY SHOPPING, OR OTHER ERRANDS IN THE COMMUNITY. IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021, THE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM OFFERED 970 TOTAL RIDES.


KRONKOSKY PLACE IS THE EPICENTER OF BOERNE FOR ADULTS TO ENGAGE IN THEIR EARNED LEISURE TIME. THE ACTIVITY PROGRAM PROVIDES HEALTH AND WELLNESS EDUCATION AND ACTIVITIES (HEALTH FAIRS, HEALTH RELATED SEMINARS, WEEKLY HEALTH SCREENINGS, LUNCH AND LEARNS AND A LARGE HEALTH CARE RESOURCE LIBRARY), A FITNESS CENTER AND FITNESS CLASSES (ZUMBA, SIT AND BE FIT, CHAIR YOGA, TAI CHI, LINE DANCING, AND SILVER SNEAKERS), SOCIAL INTERACTION AND MENTAL STIMULATION (COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER, BINGO, BRIDGE, MUSICAL CLASSES, CRAFT CLASSES, MAHJONG, SEWING, AND DANCING) AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE CENTER AND IN THE COMMUNITY. THE CENTER PROVIDES THESE ACTIVITIES TO MEMBERS, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 4:00 PM. NO PUBLIC FUNDING IS RECEIVED FOR THESE PROGRAMS. APPROXIMATELY 1,290 OLDER ADULTS WERE SERVED THROUGH THE ACTIVITY PROGRAM IN FY 2020-2021.
