EDUCATION AND CAREER: IN PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUTH, PARENTS, SCHOOLS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS, BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF EL PASO IMPLEMENTS PROGRAMS FOR ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT; TARGETED DROPOUT PREVENTION; AND INTERVENTION AND CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS. OUR AIM IS TO ENSURE THAT ALL CLUB MEMBERS GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL ON TIME, READY FOR A POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AND A 21ST-CENTURY CAREER. OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE: HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE AND TUTORING THROUGH "POWER HOUR", JOB READINESS THROUGH "JR STAFF", FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY SKILLS THROUGH MONEY MATTERS AND CAREER EXPLORATION AND MENTORING THROUGH "CAREER LAUNCH". PROJECT LEARN REINFORCES THE ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT OF YOUNG PEOPLE.
SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING & MATH (STEM)INITIATIVE: THESE PROGRAMS INTRODUCE MEMBERS TO STEM ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ROBOTICS, NANOTECHNOLOGY, SOLAR ENERGY AND CLAY ANIMATION AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH TO EXPLORE CAREERS IN STEM.
CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP: HELPING YOUTH BECOME RESPONSIBLE, CARING CITIZENS AND ACQUIRE SKILLS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS IS THE MAIN THRUST OF THESE PROGRAMS. THEY ALSO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PLANNING, DECISION-MAKING, CONTRIBUTING TO CLUB AND COMMUNIY AND CELEBRATING OUR NATIONAL HERITAGE.
