Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
SHE'S THE FIRST TEAMS UP WITH GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS TO MAKE SURE GIRLS EVERYWHERE ARE EDUCATED, RESPECTED, AND HEARD. WE STRENGTHEN A ROBUST ECOSYSTEM OF UNDERFUNDED COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS (CBOS), REACHING 140,000 GIRLS AROUND THE WORLD. WE IMPROVE GRADUATION RATES AND LIFE OUTCOMES FOR GIRLS BY PROVIDING CBOS WITH GRANTS AND TRAININGS FOCUSED ON GIRLS' SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS, GIRL-CENTERED PROGRAM DESIGN, AND FEMINIST MENTORSHIP PRACTICES. ON A GLOBAL LEVEL, WE ALSO DRIVE GIRL-LED ADVOCACY THROUGH TOOLKITS, LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES, AND MEDIA INITIATIVES, BECAUSE WHEN GIRLS HAVE MORE POWER IN THEIR COMMUNITY, EVERYONE BENEFITS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
FLEXIBLE FUNDING GRANTS TO THE STF PARTNER COALITION:THE STF PARTNER COALITION CONSISTS OF 12 COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS IN 11 COUNTRIES, AND THESE ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE FLEXIBLE FUNDING FROM STF, IN ADDITION TO PERSONALIZED ON-SITE TRAINING AS NEEDED, GIRL-CENTERED TOOLS, AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES. IN 2021, THESE FUNDS WERE LARGELY USED TO HELP GIRLS CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AND MITIGATE RISK FOLLOWING A RETURN TO SCHOOL AFTER COVID-19 SCHOOL CLOSINGS. THESE FUNDS ALSO ENSURED MORE THAN 8,000 GIRLS HAD ACCESS TO MENTORS AND TO LIFE SKILLS TRAINING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
GIRL-LED ADVOCACY INITIATIVES:OUR GIRL-LED ADVOCACY INCORPORATES TWO APPROACHES: WE CREATE RESOURCES FOR GIRLS TO ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES, AND WE INVITE GIRLS TO SET THE AGENDA FOR OUR CAMPAIGNS AND BEYOND.STF CAMPUS CONTINUES TO BE OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM IN THIS PILLAR, WITH 136 CHAPTERS AT HIGH SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES IN 6 COUNTRIES. IN 2021, WE LAUNCHED OUR YOUTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAM, A TRAINING PROGRAM AND PLATFORM FOR GIRLS WHO WISH TO BECOME ADVOCATES FOR GIRLS' RIGHTS IN THEIR LOCAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITIES. WE ALSO PROVIDED GIRL CHAMPIONS WITH SEED GRANTS TO CARRY OUT ADVOCACY AND ACTIVISM PROJECTS, AND RAN OUR ANNUAL GIRLS GET LOUD CAMPAIGN, IN WHICH INFLUENCERS AND BRANDS FEATURED GIRLS' VOICES ON THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS FOR INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL. OUR EXPENSES FOR THIS PROGRAMMING AREA ALSO INCLUDE THE PHOTOGRAPHY, DIGITAL TOOLS, AND STAFF TIME THAT ALLOW US TO MOBILIZE GIRLS, CONSULT WITH A GIRLS ADVISORY BOARD, AND PRODUCE RIGHTS-BASED CONTENT THAT ULTIMATELY SHIFTS POWER TO THEIR VOICES.IN TOTAL, OUR ADVOCACY PROGRAMS REACHED MORE THAN 100,000 GIRLS IN 2021.
TRAININGS FOR COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS:LACK OF ACCESS TO PRACTICAL TRAINING AND OTHER RESOURCES PREVENTS COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, WHO ARE BEST-POSITIONED TO CREATE CHANGE FOR GIRLS, FROM DELIVERING ON THEIR UNIQUE VALUE. THIS IS WHY SHE'S THE FIRST OFFERS IN-PERSON AND REMOTE TRAINING TO PRACTITIONERS, TO ADDRESS THEIR NEEDS PERTAINING TO GIRL-CENTERED PROGRAM DESIGN, GIRLS' SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS (SRHR), AND FEMINIST MENTORSHIP MODELS.IN 2021, WE HOSTED TRAININGS ON ON GIRL-CENTERED DESIGN AND VALUES-BASED COMMUNICATION FOR 73 PRACTITIONERS WHO WORK WITH GIRLS. WE ALSO FINALIZED THE PILOT YEAR OF OUR GIRL-CENTERED INCUBATOR, A NEW PROGRAM FOR 6 YOUNG WOMEN LEADING EARLY-STAGE ORGANIZATIONS IN THEIR HOME COMMUNITIES. THESE LEADERS RECEIVE TRAINING IN ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND FEMINIST LEADERSHIP, AND STARTING NEXT YEAR, WILL RECEIVE LIVING STIPENDS AND SMALL GRANTS FOR THEIR WORK.
FISCAL SPONSORSHIP - THE GIRL-CENTERED INCUBATOR PROGRAM:THE GIRL-CENTERED INCUBATOR TRAINS GIRL-LED ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE TRANSFORMING OUTCOMES FOR GIRLS IN THEIR COMMUNITY. TWO OF THESE ORGANIZATIONS FUNDRAISE IN THE U.S. WITH SHE'S THE FIRST AS A FISCAL SPONSOR. WE MONITOR THE PROGRAM'S GOALS, PROGRESS, AND SPENDING AS A CONDITION OF THIS SPONSORSHIP.
