BRIGHT LIGHT BELHAVEN NIGHTS 2021 BROUGHT IN ONE OF OUR BIGGEST MUSICAL ACTS TO DATE. THIS IN TURN BROUGHT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE INTO GREATER BELHAVEN. THIS EVENT SERVES TO BRING PEOPLE INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD AS WELL AS PROMOTE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESSES AND ARTISANS.
THE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT IS AN INITIATIVE TO ESTABLISH BELHAVEN AND BELHAVEN HEIGHTS AS A SPECIAL LOCAL IMPROVEMENT ASSESSMENT DISTRICT THAT FALLS WITHIN OUR MISSION STATEMENT THAT WILL HELP WITH LONG- TERM PLANNING AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THOSE PLANS.
COMMUNICATIONS AND IMAGE: THE PROMOTION OF GREATER BELHAVEN TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL AUDIENCES.
MISSISSIPPI MAIN STREET: THE PROMOTION OF BELHAVEN AS A MISSISSIPPI MAIN STREET COMMUNITY THROUGH ECONOMIC REVITIALIZATION, PROMOTION, PROTECTION AND BEAUTIFICATION. BEING BELHAVEN ART SERIES: THE ART SERIES PROVIDES ART, MUSICAL, AND THEATER PROGRAMMING TO RESIDENTS FROM AROUND THE METRO AREA AT NO COST TO THEM. PARKS AND GREEN SPACES: PARKS AND GREEN SPACES OF GREATER BELHAVEN SERVE AS PRIMARY MEETING PLACES FOR ALL OUR RESIDENTS AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THE MONEY WAS SPENT FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP OF OUR PARKS. LAUREL STREET PARK,THE NEIGHBORHOOD'S "PLAYGROUND" BECAUSE OF CONSTANT USE REQUIRES YEARLY PAINTING, BUILDING AND MULCH. EQUIPMENT MUST BE CHECKED AND REPAIRED REGULARLY FOR SAFETY. SEVERAL BENCHES WERE REPLACED AND ADDITIONAL ONES ADDED.
