PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS WERE CREATED TO ADDRESS THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF THE RESIDENTS IN RURAL AREAS. SOUTH DELTA PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT, INC. IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION SERVING SIX COUNTIES AND THIRTY-FIVE MUNICIPALITIES. IT'S MAJOR PURPOSE IS TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND ADMINISTER A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMS WHICH CAN POSITIVELY AFFECT THE LIVES OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE DELTA AREA AS WELL AS IMPROVE THE ECONOMY OF THE AREA.

SDPDD HAS BEEN SELECTED BY THE DELTA WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD TO BE THE FISCAL AGENT TO ADMINISTER 13,000,000 THROUGHOUT THE FOURTEEN COUNTY WORKFORCE AREA. ONE-STOP CENTERS HAVE BEEN CREATED AND YOUTH PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED.
SOUTH DELTA'S AREA AGENCY ON AGING (AAA), THROUGH NETWORKING WITH OTHER AGENCIES, OFFERS THE WAYS AND MEANS THROUGH WHICH ASSISTANCE TO OLDER AMERICANS CAN BE OBTAINED.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS A STATE WIDE PROGRAM DESIGNED TO OFFER ASSISTANCE TO QUALIFIED MEDICAID BENEFICIARIES. THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS TO REMAIN IN A HOME OR COMMUNITY-BASED SETTING AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO NURSING FACILITY CARE OR OTHER INSTITUTIONAL CARE.
SDPDD OPERATES VARIOUS OTHER PROGRAMS TO ASSIST LOCAL UNITS OF GOVERNMENT AND PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE DISADVANTAGED.
