THE PRIMARY MISSION OF ALZHEIMERS FAMILY SERVICES (AFS) IS TO PROVIDE (SEE SCHEDULE O) (CONTINUATION FROM PART I, LINE 1) EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR CAREGIVERS OF ALZHEIMERS PATIENTS.

MEMORY CARE CLINIC: EMBRACES THOSE WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE OR DEMENTIA IN A TRANQUIL, HOME-LIKE SETTING WITH SKILLED STAFF AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO HELP RESIDENTS MAKE THE MOST OF EACH MOMENT. OPTIMAL LIVING ACCOMMODATIONS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO MEET THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF THOSE IMPACTED BY DEMENTIA. THE CENTER OFFERS A STATE-OF-THE-ART PRIVATE ROOMS AND DOUBLE-OCCUPANCY ROOMS WITH A MAXIMUM BED CAPACITY LICENSED AT 25 ROOMS WITHIN THE 14,000 SQUARE FOOT RESIDENCE LOCATED AT THE JOYCE GOLDENBERG CAMPUS IN PENSACOLA.
SUPPORT GROUPS AND RESPITE: ALZHEIMER'S FAMILY SERVICES OFFERS MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUPS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT ITS SERVICE AREA FOR FAMILIES AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE. IN 2021, APPROXIMATELY 763 HOURS OF IN-HOME RESPITE WAS PROVIDED FOR CAREGIVERS AS WELL AS 56 DAYS AT THE PATIENT-CENTERED ACTIVITY PROGRAM.PROJECT LIFESAVER: ALZHEIMER'S FAMILY SERVICES (AFS) MANAGES THE PROJECT LIFESAVER PROGRAM FOR DEMENTIA PATIENTS RESIDING IN ESCAMBIA, SANTA ROSA, OKALOOSA, AND WALTON COUNTIES OF FLORIDA. THROUGH RADIO FREQUENCIES, SEARCH AND RESCUE CREWS ARE ABLE TO QUICKLY LOCATE WANDERING PATIENTS AND RETURN THEM TO THEIR HOME. THE PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO FAMILIES ON A SLIDING FEE SCALE SO NO ONE THAT IS ELIGIBLE IS REFUSED. STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS HELP PROVIDE MONTHLY MAINTENENCE VISITS FOR EACH CLIENT ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.EDUCATION AND WORKSHOPS: AFS EDUCATES THE COMMUNITY, CAREGIVERS, AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS ABOUT ALZHEIMERS DISEASE. AWARENESS AND KNOWLEDGE ARE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH ONE-ON-ONE AND GROUP EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS, WORKSHOPS/SEMINARS, SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS, AND PARTICIPATION IN HEALTH FAIRS. ADDITIONALLY, AFS OFFERS CAREGIVERS ACCESS TO ONLINE HANDBOOKS TO PROVIDE TOOLS TO COPE WITH THEIR LOVED ONE'S ILLNESS. CAREGIVERS CAN BE A SPOUSE, AND ADULT CHILD, OR EVEN A FRIEND. AFS PROVIDES CURRENT AND UPDATED KNOWLEDGE AND TREATMENT INFORMATION TO THE FAMILY. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED COMMENSURATE WITH THE CAPABILITIES OF THE STAFF AND WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
