EQUINE-ASSISTED ACTIVITIES AND THERAPIES TO ENABLE CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TO IMPROVE PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, AND EMOTIONALLY THROUGH THE USE OF THERAPEUTIC RIDING AND EQUINE ACTIVITIES.

THIS YEAR, EQUINE-ASSISTED THERAPIES OF SOUTH FLORIDA HAS PROVIDED SERVICES TO OVER 70 CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IN BROWARD, PALM BEACH, AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTIES. THE PARTICIPATION OF SCHOOL AND NONPROFITE PARTNERS CONTINUES TO BE IMPACTED BY COVID-19 RECOVERY AND TRANSPORTATION ISSUES WITHIN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE ORGANIZATION WORKED WITH JAFCO TO PROVIDE GROUP EQUINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY TO 8 CHILDREN WITH THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OFFERED ONE-ON-ONE EQUINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY OVER THE SUMMER AND CONTINUES TO OFFER EXPANDED SERVICES THROUGH THE CALENDAR YEAR. 2022 MARKS THE ORGANIZATION'S 40TH YEAR OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE THE ORGANIZATION WELCOMED PREVIOUS BOARD MEMBERS, SUPPORTERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO THREE DIFFERENC VIP GATHERINGS TO CELEBRATE THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY. THE PROGRAM COMPLETED THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONLINE WAITING LIST SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THE PROGRAM TEAM TO ONBOARD NEW PARTICIPANTS MORE EFFECTIVELY. THE PROGRAM CONTINUES TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH 4 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS - THERAPEUTIC RIDING, UNMOUNTED HORSEMANSHIP, HIPPOTHERAPY, AND EQUINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY, WHILE PROVIDING TRAINING TO OVER 175 VOLUNTEERS.
